It’s been a really exciting month I finally have my own yard! We have been looking for the right place for ages and it’s finally all come together.  The new yard is now up and running and I currently have 10 horses so I’m being kept really busy. It’s a really lovely yard so I’m really happy and looking forward to what 2016 has in store for me!

Smokey Jay Scope Festival

Smokey Jay Scope Festival

I have been spending most of this month schooling the horses and getting them fit and ready as come March time we will out competing most weekends and with Blue Chips and Chepstow FEI just around the corner I really need to make sure that they are on top form and ready to go. They are all in great shape and the Honeychop is going down well and we now have the whole yard on it.
It’s been lovely having the amazing Smokey Jay come home for a while for some schooling and it just shows you’re never too old for ponies. Smokey is my old 148 and we jumped up to Foxhunter he’s really special to me, so being able to ride him again has been so lovely and has brought back so many special memories ) He’s with me for a month getting him fit whilst his new owner is at school ready for them both to start competing in March.

Hollie and Jess mendoza

Me & Jess Mendoza

I was lucky enough to be guest of honour of the Pony Club at Olympia – it was a great day and I walked the course for the 1.30 with Jessica Mendoza before a press call and presentation of my Pony Club Rider Development Squad rugs.

Delina now has all but one of her Blue Chip qualifiers with just the Power to get which we are planning to do during February she jumped her 1st 1.30 this month and I was so pleased with her she jumped amazingly well, she continues to get better and better and I hope to be jumping her in the 1.30 / 1.35 FEI classes this year.

Ryans Hollie is loving being at the yard and she also now has all of her Blue Chip qualifiers. I’m taking her to Bury Farm at the end of February for their 3 day show and we have entered the bareback challenge class in aid of the memory of Russell Pearson, who’s yard I was at previously at. So I’m looking forward to taking part in that knowing that he will certainly be looking down having a laugh at me trying to jump bareback! –I think I better get practicing and will share with you how I got on in my next blog.

Hilarius and I also on the photo shoot for a hotel

Hilarius and I also starred in a video and photo shoot for a hotel, I have to say he made quite an impression he was a really good boy and absolutely loved all the attention he’s such a poser. He’s also loving his new home and has settled in really well to the new yard. The facilities and the school are so great he’s in great shape and raring to go and I’m looking forward to Bury Farm at the end of the month.

He’s loving his new home and I’d thought I’d share the video of him 1st time at the yard

Meanwhile Tim’s tips are really paying off we practice the exercise’s at home a lot and they have really been helping and it’s great to have some professional help and advice and the videos Tim sends me of the exercise’s really help. I currently have a young 5 year old mare Cassie to ride for her owner and I have been trying out some of Tim’s exercise’s on her. This month’s exercise was designed to help Improve your turning it focusses on improving balance and bending this exercise also improves your control whilst turning . Considering that Cassie is only 5 she coped really well with the exercise and it was a great one for us to use to help improve and teach her how to turn. I have also been doing the exercise on Delina who is also a young horse and this has helped her with her jump offs in the ring.
