Grace best moments of June 2016
How is it the end of June already, I don’t believe it!
We kicked off the month with our first ever side saddle class at Findon riding club’s summer showing show, what a brilliant day, I love spending the time getting Skip all bathed and plaited the day before, then adding the finishing touches on the morning of the show and the best bit of all, show day! The nerves are kicking in, you’re eyeing up the other competitors and trying to reminisce as to whether you have been judged by this judge before or not, and then it’s time to enter the ring!
Skip rode reasonably well, he did have a couple of bucks and he was tossing his head around a bit, but overall I was happy with how he went, especially since it was his first time out with mummy riding sideways and first outing of the year on grass! We ranked in second place and spent the rest of the day relaxing in the sunshine and supporting friends riding in other classes.
Then a few weeks later we headed off out to a new venue for Skip, second show on grass and second show in the side saddle, to which Skip thought was just far too much and decided to bronk around the ring! He was such a monkey, but I did end up with a couple of brilliant photos where I have a massive smile on my face because I’m laughing at his naughtiness!! The judge’s comment was “today is just not your day” ha-ha-ha!
This month….I PASSED MY TOWING TEST! #freedom! Can’t believe it, finally, I can tow my horse! We don’t need to beg and borrow lifts, what an awesome feeling. I upgraded my car to a bigger and beefier version for safe towing. The first thing I am going to do, is hit the beach!!!!!
Biggest and best moments of June 2016 however, were definitely encountered whilst meeting and supporting Honeychop’s very own sponsored showjumper, Tim Page, at the Royal Highland Show. I had a great weekend with Tim, asking questions, watching him ride and helping him out where I could. It was amazing and I can’t thank Honeychop enough for the experience! Sadly I missed out on meeting Tim in 2015 as I was in Dubai at the time of the meet, so it was very kind of them to allow me this opportunity whilst Tim was up in Scotland, it’s something I will never forget.
The end of the month also brought the North East of Scotland Horse Show. The Working Hunter section was very kindly sponsored by Honeychop and I went along on the day with goody bags for competitors and put up a small display stand. What a brilliant day I had, so many people were asking questions and showing interest in the products, I ran a prize draw for 5 free bags too and drew the winner at the end of the day. I really enjoyed my day!
Up next we have our local riding club’s area event which will involve us participating in riding test, dressage, showjumping and style jumping as part of teams in the hope of qualifying for the riding club championships at Lincoln later in the year.
Skip is doing grand and toodling along, hopefully next month we will start jumping again, I’m taking things really slow, better to be safe than sorry! Until then –
Grace and Skip x
