Dancing our way through April
Hello Honeychoppers,
I can’t quite believe that this time last week we were all basking in the heatwave and today I’m reaching for my fleece! The weather is so up and down, I can’t keep up. However I did enjoy the sunshine last week – wasn’t it nice to feel the sun again after such a cold winter? As soon as the sun comes out I cant help but reach for a cheeky Kopparberg!
After years of wanting to, this month I finally got round to sorting out my dressage to music, I can’t wait to get out and compete in some DTM classes, they look such good fun. I have always wanted to do it, but just never got round to it, and with a bit of extra time on my hands at the moment I decide now was the time, if you haven’t ever looked in to it; I would really recommend it, it’s really fun, and gives you the chance to show your horse off at whatever level you are competing to their best ability as other than a few fixed movements the rest is up to you to decide what you do and where you go. Mikey has a good balance so we opted for some counter canter in our floor plan which for novice level isn’t needed but if you’ve got it flaunt it as they say and hopefully if we do it well on the day it will earn us a good mark for the technical score. I had great fun thinking of a what sort of music I wanted to use and decided on a “pop” theme. I am off to practise the test with the music next week so watch this space for a sneak peak of my music!
For me it’s important to make sure Mikey has variety in his workload and with March being focused on flat work this month it was time to mix it up a bit and what better what to do that than to head to our local gallops for a morning. We headed over to Marsworth Gallops, which is just up the road from us with our usual partners in crime Candice and her horse Stu – the views there are gorgeous – you can see for miles. The boys loved racing one another up the nice steep hill, although Mikey isn’t quite as athletic as Stu and tires much quicker, we had a blast!
With glorious sunshine last week we headed to the woods near by we had a great time, but don’t ever trust me to navigate you anywhere – we got lost – a lot!
I can’t quite believe May is upon us already, how time flies, next week we head out for another BD outing, and then I am off to Badminton for the weekend, I can’t wait and may see some of you there, particularly excited to see Ben Hobday heading round the XC on My Mulry – what a dude of a horse he is.
Lets hope the sunshine heads back our way soon.
Until next month
Laura and Mikey x
