Finally BACK in the show ring!

Hello Honeychoppers, I hope you are enjoying this gorgeous Bank Holiday weekend – it’s a scorcher where I live! In fact it must be hot as I have got my legs out – and I seldom do that!

Back in the show ring

This month, after almost a full 12 months, we finally got back in to the show ring! I can’t quite believe it, the recovery has been a pretty traumatic one for us as you know from my previous blogs, but what a come back. Mikey was a SUPERSTAR and didn’t put a hoof out of line. I was so pleased he felt like the old Mikey, and we even managed to add a sash to our collection! What a clever boy. Love him.

A trip to the gallops!

We also headed over to one of our local gallops this month, obviously galloping was not on the agenda for us given we are still very much looking at ‘the’ leg. But I wanted to take advantage of an all weather surface, and a nice steady hill. We went with one of my horsey friends Kerrie and her horse Coblet – we had a great time. My lovely friend Candice Pottage Photography captured some fab images for me – I think this one and the smile on my face tells you everything you need to know!

Get on your bike!

I have recently started cycling to the yard! It is a ten mile round trip and I was a bit worried that I might not make it there and back, but I have managed it quite easily. There is a couple of massive hills to contend with, but I have just taken the slow and steady approach! Mikey was surprised to see my new ride!

Hacking fun

I have done a fair bit of hacking this month too. I have had a few fun hacks with my niece and the pony she occasionally rides Jake. This pic is of the two of them before our last hack, little and large! How cute are they?

I am of to Burghley Horse Trials in a few weekends and am really looking forward to that, I also intend to get Mikey out again to another show or 2! I am gutted to be missing Bucks County Show next week but I made a decision that they ground would be too hard for me to risk him, and with all the sunshine whilst I am gutted to miss it, I do feel like I have made the right decision.
